Service-Learning Project

alright, heres the address of the national heritage center:

Memories at Old Ford Factory

351 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588192

We are bringing about 10 children from Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home to this to the Memories at Old Ford Factory.

For further details about the heritage center you all can visit: http://www.s1942.org.sg/s1942/moff/about1.htm

Note that we (nanyang students) will get free entry so we do not have to raise any funds for the entrance fees. Also, we've requested the heritage center to waive the fees for the children and teachers from the home as well.

So basically, we just have to maybe book a bus for our transport. We may have to pay for the bus ourselves, but meanwhile Ms Tan is trying to see if she can get free bus transport. Alternatively, we can go there ourselves but we must be sure that we reach on time.

Venue: Memories at Old Ford Factory
Date: 11th April 2009 (sat)

Time: 0900 sharp
Duration: 1hour 30mins

We will confirm with the children's home about the trip and book a slot for the heritage center tomorrow. Indeminity form will be given to you tomorrow, please get it signed and return on Friday.

Thats all and try to be enthusiatic abit. Make this learning trip a memorable one for them and make sure they learn something also. Try not to talk about sensitive issues like their family members when interacting with them. In all just be nice la cos we are helping them wad.

Any questions just tag.

  • Come up with interesting worksheets/activites that can get the their attention

  • It is best to stick closely to 1hour30-40mins cos they very particular about the time the children reach back lastest 1130 as they have to attend enrichment programmes.

  • Do a recce.

  • We can also each contribute a little amount to get them souveniers or something nice for them to bring back.

  • You all can also assign positions yourselves (Eg. treasurer, logistics head, etc)

  • If possible, brief the class roughly on the activity.

if i miss out anything let me know.
